The Question Boulder Police Still Won’t Answer John Ramsey

In 2026, John Ramsey has met periodically with Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn, sometimes joined by family members, advisers and Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty.

Ramsey keeps asking one question: Has the remaining DNA evidence in JonBenét Ramsey’s murder been sent to a national laboratory for investigative genetic genealogy testing?

Chief Redfearn won’t answer, saying the case remains under active investigation.

For Ramsey, the issue is simple. More than 30 years after his daughter was murdered, he wants to know whether one of the most powerful tools now available to solve cold cases is being used to find her killer.
